On This Day...

Wow, I have some catching up to do again! The two layouts I mentioned in my last post seem to have figured themselves out, and cooperated when I tried uploading them to my Scrapbook.com gallery. I'll come back tomorrow and indulge you on those two layouts!

Tonight, I completed the second of a few layouts detailing our nieces wedding this past September. The first was the Silly Hats layout. I have permission to post my layouts of her wedding to my online gallery, so feel free to head on over and have a peek!

The color scheme S chose for her wedding was mainly black, white and blue, so I naturally stuck with those colours in this layout. I love the effect you'll see on the title mat and under the bells; taking a sponge dauber, I filled it up with Not Quite Navy ink (SU), and literally dabbed at the paper to create a spray painted-ish look. Love!!

On the grey card stock matting the photos, I used Whisper White Ink, and an Easter SU stamp that reminded me of rain, and stamped the background. Yes, it was a wet and rainy day, but it cleared up enough to make for some beautiful sunset photos during their photo shoot. It didn't matter that it rained. The day was still beautiful. ANother little element I included to tie the rain aspect into my layout is the little blue umbrella brad (Carta Bella Alphabet Junction).

The May your joys be many is actually a Jillibean Soup Christmas tag (Winter Tortellini), but I thought it worked beautifully here. The blue circle matted underneath that is Creative Memories, and both hearts on the page are K&Co.

Once again, Pinterest to the rescue! The sketch I came across there is what inspired this layout. I love how many pictures I was able to fit into it! Rather than using 3x3, which is what it called for, I re-adjusted the size to 2.5x2.5, so it would fit nicely on an 8.5x11 size layout. I think I could have gone a bit smaller, but I'm happy with the final result!

S, hopefully you like it, too!

Have a great night.

Hope you drop by again soon.

My Spirit{ed} Child

These pictures just screamed at me to be used when I sat down to complete my layout for the LCTS latest sketch (#151). You can find the sketch here.

I originally had other pictures picked out, and after I got them printed, I looked through the rest of the album that they came from, and decided that these pictures of Addison playing in the living room curtains needed to be scrapped instead.

The chipboard 'spirit' piece defines Addison to a tee. She's head strong, and knows what she wants and doesn't want- and when she wants it (or not), and nothing else will persuade her to think or believe otherwise. Learning how to raise her and discipline her has me stumped, but thankfully I've come across some resources lately that will hopefully help out with that!

Having said that, she's also our fun-loving clown in the family. She sure knows how to make us laugh- and she sure knows how to have fun! She isn't shy- she's a bigger social butterfly than her daddy and I combined!

To sum up, I just wanted to capture the essence of Addison in this layout. I think this defines her perfectly!!

Prepare to be Amazed!

On a whim, I brought out one of my scrapbook albums this afternoon, and showed it to the girls. I never imagined that at this age (2.5) they would be so into looking at the pictures in my albums. In total, we browsed through 4 entire scrapbook albums! And, I've concluded that I need to do it a little more often- so they learn the faces of the people in them, and a little bit about who they are. In that respect, its better to start now than when they are older. For example, there's a few layouts with my Oma- the girls' great Oma- and they wouldn't know who she is from Adam. They have met her- when they were tiny little infants, but they don't remember her. And, they'll never know her intimately like I did growing up. But, they can learn about her and love her through the pages that are dedicated to her.

On another note, I'm deeply touched that what I've been dedicated {obsessively} to working on for my family and those still to come, is so special to the girls. Already.  I was almost moved to tears this evening when I was talking with Kyle about it! Of course they would appreciate it, but in my mind, that appreciation would be many years down the road. I never thought that it would be this soon. Wow. Just. Wow!! At least I know (thankfully) none of what's in those albums is in vain. KWIM???!

I have another layout to share tonight:

This was such a fun layout to make! Its based on the Monthly Sketch Challenges' Bonus Sketch for week 3, which you can find right here. I flipped the sketch upside down and turned it backwards so that it would work better with the photo I chose to scrapbook.

And, the picture I chose is still from the Father's Day weekend bash. Here, Auntie is walking with Dear Maren in her arms. I just adore this picture of the two of them! And, I love that she's taking such a keen  interest in spending time with them. But, how could she not? She's my person, after all! She helped bring them into the world- by extension, they're almost like her own children!

I began thinking that when we look back on this picture, we're going to wonder exactly how old Maren was when this picture was taken. So, in the journalling spot, I jotted down the magical number (which is 29 months old. But, I realized that's a typo after I got it scanned. She's actually 28 months old in this picture. My bad!! I still have to fix that).

All the papers I used are K& Co, but not from the same lines. (The one that the title is matted on is from the 'best of' paper pad, and the rest are from the Brenda Walton Designer paper pack). The black card stock is Recollections, I think.

Have a great night, everyone! I'm off to work on another layout before heading off to bed.

Four Simple Words

34* hearing four sweet, beautiful words coming from their precious mouths: 'mommy, I love you'

We had an incredibly beautiful morning here. Finally at 11:30, I was able to convince the kids it would be fun to play outside. And, I'm glad they went, because they were out there until about ten to two. By then, dark clouds were rolling in, we heard a small peel of thunder, and it began to rain. It didn't come down really heavily until just a couple minutes ago, actually. Thank goodness Kyle got the front yard mowed! I finally have a yard that looks as nice as the rest of the neighbourhoods! (minus my flower beds. They've still got grass growing out of them).

Anyways, I was sitting on the deck, soaking up the sunshine, while the kids played in the backyard, when Maren joined me on the deck. She stood in-between my legs and laid her head in my lap. While she was standing there like that, and while I was gently stroking her head and talking with her, she suddenly said those four words to me. That's the first time she's said them to me without me saying them to her, first.

{Melting heart} OH. MY. WORD!!!!!

36* Addison Brie and Maren Avery

On the same subject, Addison didn't sleep the greatest last night. She woke up a few times, and each time, I went in and got her re-arranged, covered up again and back to sleep. At four this morning, the last time she was awake, she was feeling pretty talkative. She asked for her kiki (blankie), and when I pulled it out from under her, I gently began stroking her forehead and whispered to her that I loved her.

I am not 100% sure, but I think Addison said, 'me too, mommy'.

37* love

There's one more thing that I absolutely LOVE today, but I won't be able to share it until either later today or tomorrow. I'm not sure whether I'll be able to post again today.

Do you ever marvel at yourself for creating something that you feel is so incredible, the stars must have aligned just right in order for you to have created that item in the first place?

Yeah, I feel that way about my latest layout. I'm so pumped about it I can hardly wait to share it! I actually love it so much, I have decided I need to make another one. The subject on this one is miss Addison. SO, the subject on the second one should naturally be miss Maren!

Lips

Its been characteristic of you since birth. And, I love it.

Things that simply just make me smile.

4* bottom lips that unconsciously like to stick out, forming what's affectionately called the 'pouty lip'

Today, two perfect, pink, tiny little babies joined our world and our family.

Our family was blessed with another set of healthy, beautiful, fragile twins.

Twin B was breach, so they were delivered by c-section, but mama is resting comfortably and soaking up the joy and elation she's feeling over meeting her children; finally, after 36 long weeks.

Welcome, Khouri twins, and congratulations to mama and daddy Khouri!!!
